Mayor Hahn Announces Creation of Industrial Development Advisory Committee

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Patrick Lee February 11, 2003 213/978-0741 LOS ANGELES - Mayor Jim Hahn today announced the creation of the Industrial Development Advisory Committee. The purpose of the committee is to develop a comprehensive industrial development policy that will stimulate the growth and development of manufacturing jobs in the City of Los Angeles. Mayor Hahn has appointed 7 members to his Industrial Development Advisory Committee, all experts in industrial development, who bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives to the committee.

The first phase of the committee's work will define the extent to which industrially-zoned land throughout the city is vacant or under-utilized. The committee expects to complete the first phase this summer.

"Identifying the barriers that inhibit the effective utilization of industrial land is key to industrial development," said Mayor Hahn. "This talented committee will guide the work of evaluating the city's inventory of industrial land as well as identifying the barriers that will tell us why land is under-utilized and how to remove those barriers. I am confident that the expertise and diversity of this advisory committee will help create a national model for industrial development policy." See below for the list of appointees and their bios.
