USDA Rural Development’s Socially Disadvantaged Group Grants (SDGG) provides financial support for community groups to conduct leadership trainings, craft business plans or conduct strategic planning among other things. The program prioritizes projects that provide technical assistance to socially-disadvantaged groups through co-ops and cooperative development centers. The goal of SDGG is to support communities that typically struggle to grow because they do not have access to the proper resources. By providing assistance to these groups, USDA Rural Development can empower communities as well as contribute to the development of personal skills and improve mental health. Members of cooperative or a cooperative development center should contact their local rural development office with questions or apply.
