The California EPA Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC), has funds available to assist with the investigation and cleanup of brownfields.
Targeted Site Investigation (TSI) Program:
DTSC has $300,000 available state-wide to perform environmental assessments for redevelopment, re-use and revitalization of Brownfields properties by local agencies, school districts, and nonprofit organizations. Projects for the TSI Program, which are selected through a competitive application process, receive free environmental assessment services from DTSC’s staff and consultants. DTSC will be accepting applications through July 11, 2017! The application, guidelines, and additional information are available at DTSC’s Loans and Grants webpage.
I-710 Brownfields Assessment Grant:

DTSC's goal is to utilize our technical and regulatory expertise to assist local agencies and non-profit organizations to facilitate safe and productive use of brownfields. Properties will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, please contact Maryam.Tasnif-Abbasi@dtsc.ca.g
