The Center for Creative Land Recycling has launched a new page for Sustainable Remediation Resources (hyperlink) through the Online State Resources Page! This page compiles state and national resources about sustainable and green remediation, such as EPA’s Climate Smart Brownfields manual, NY Department of Environmental Conservation documents and presentations, EPA Green Remediation best practices and more. These resources provide assistance to groups and individuals seeking assistance and information on innovative techniques for site remediation. Green remediation practices allow for sites to be revitalized in the most sustainable manner possible, targeting climate resilience and adaptation while mitigating unnecessary emissions and pollution risks. Incorporating low impact strategies into site remediation reduces the project footprint, simultaneously revitalizing land while conserving resources and ecological integrity. Along with the environmental benefits of green remediation, these strategies can help save money and reduce negative health and social impacts of the remediation process. These resources serve to educate and connect New York practitioners with information and assistance in adopting greener remediation strategies, leading to a healthier environment for all.
These resources will be continually updated with new information, links to CCLR’s presentations, and case studies highlighting the benefits of successful green remediation projects. CCLR will be presenting more about green remediation at our June 7-8, 2017 conference in Albany, NY on “Economic and Community Revitalization through Planning and Brownfield Development.” Click here to see program agenda and register.
