Carol is the current Federal Housing Administration Commissioner and Assistant Secretary for Housing in the Obama Administration. Prior to her Senate confirmation in December 2012, Carol served as Acting Assistant Secretary for Housing and Federal Housing Administration Commissioner, after joining the Department of Housing and Urban Development in May 2009 as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Housing programs. In 2012, Carol was presented with the Women of Influence award for her role in stabilizing the mortgage market. Prior to her service at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Carol was President and Chief Executive Officer of the BRIDGE Housing Corporation, the single largest non-profit development firm for mixed-income and mixed-use projects in California. Carol also has significant experience in city planning and community economic development development, and held numerous leadership positions at community organizations such as the Housing Partnership Network, OneCalifornia Bank Foundation, the California Housing Consortium, the Center for Housing Policy, and the Urban Land Institute.
