INTRODUCING: ECO-INNOVATOR SHOWCASE
Has your municipality incorporated sustainable or environmentally supportive strategies into your remediation and redevelopment projects? Have you reduced energy use, added renewable energy resources or created green space on underutilized land? Have green infrastructure or resiliency projects enhanced your redevelopment results?
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU
New York municipalities and environmental consultants are leading efforts to reduce, recycle and reuse materials and waste, implement measures that minimize air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions, reduce energy usage and restore ecosystems before, during and after remediation and redevelopment. We are collecting stories of successful, fully-implemented projects that will enable others to see first-hand the broad range of projects – big and small – that have been implemented to protect human health and safety and reduce impacts to the environment.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR CASE STUDY
The short, fillable template attached will collect concise information about the project, the ease or difficulty of implementation, key stakeholders, property characteristics, financial resources as well as economic, environmental and social benefits. Together, we can catalog and spotlight projects for replication.
Please use the Guide for Submissions here for complete instructions. Here is the link to the fillable Submission form, which can be completed easily once you have compiled the information outlined in the Guide.
SEE EXAMPLES OF SUBMITTED CASE STUDIES
Three submissions were presented at CCLR’s “ Innovations in Remediation and Land Reuse” workshop in Rochester, NY on October 25th. This first-ever “Brownfield Eco-Innovators Showcase” highlighted use of solar power at a NYS Superfund Site; techniques for conserving material resources and minimizing waste and toxics during building demolition; and use of green infrastructure for water conservation and water quality protection along with public education programming about these efforts.
