
Biography
Margot Rose Lederer is an economic development and land use professional, experienced in brownfield planning and redevelopment. She brings a creative, entrepreneurial approach to guiding the revitalization of distressed properties within socially and culturally diverse, disadvantaged communities. Margot created and administered the City of Oakland (CA) Brownfield Loan and Grant Program, funded by state and federal sources, working with private and non-profit developers on complex infill site development. She has experience helping guide clients through governmental regulatory agency oversight. She has served to advocate for interagency coordination to enable brownfield projects to reach closure and reuse. Margot is experienced at managing teams to resolve issues around dilapidated infrastructure, industrial-residential edge buffer zones, reticent or absentee owners, and blight which stymies neighborhood revitalization land redevelopment. She is an experienced at grant writing and management, and successfully obtained over $4 million in grant funding for brownfield assessment and remediation, streetscape planning and improvements, and transit village plan implementation.
She is an experienced public speaker, presenter and performer. Margot’s outside interests include a lifelong interest in Asian Arts, and a passion for global environmental and socio-cultural concerns. She is a Fulbright Specialist and recently served as a Senior Workforce Development Advisor for the State Department in Jakarta, Indonesia.
