Founded by Tracy Craig, Craig Communications is a small, women-owned community engagement firm that has a 20- year history of developing and implementing successful community outreach programs for technically complex, controversial, multi-stakeholder environmental and land use projects in northern and southern California. They are one of a handful of firms in the San Francisco Bay Area that specializes in community outreach programs in support of the cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated sites and currently provide support for over 30 Brownsfield projects. They have strong relationships with management and staff at the EPA, California Department of Toxic Substances Control, Regional Water Quality Control Board, and Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
Tracy is one of the state’s leading public affairs strategists for redevelopment of properties in the Bay Area. She has designed successful public participation programs for some of the largest redevelopment projects in the Bay Area including Alameda Point, Mare Island, Brisbane Baylands, and numerous other projects in San Francisco and Oakland. Prior to founding her own firm in 2000, she played an instrumental role developing and expanding DTSC’s public participation program in support of the cleanup of hazardous waste sites - a program that still serves as the prototype for public participation.
