The Business & The Environment Conference focuses on industry-wide issues and is a collaborative endeavor presented by the Northwest Environmental Business Council (NEBC), Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology).

This conference is the region’s largest environmental conference and expo. As the “go-to” event for environmental professionals in the northwest, the conference provides you with the latest information and best practices in environmental protection & compliance, new technologies & services, sustainable business practices, and trending policy issues. It convenes the environmental business community for two days of learning, connecting, and doing business. As a cross-sector conference, Business & The Environment covers the environmental industry spectrum, attracting business owners, executives, and environmental managers.

Building Strong Project Partnerships: Meaningful Community Engagement for Better Results

This informative session will provide specific examples of communications and community engagement methods including conflict resolution when things don’t go as planned and how to build successful partnerships. Case studies will demonstrate how these methods can be useful, meaningful, and create a better experience for everyone. With the right engagement, controversial projects and sensitive topics can be addressed in ways that not only lead to project success but also renewed trust in future efforts.

Speaker:

Norm is a former local government executive with 18 years experience leading planning, economic development, and redevelopment efforts in two counties and two cities across the four time zones of the “Lower 48.” In each organization, his teams delivered work that garnered national recognition with awards from industry groups like the American Planning Association and Urban Land Institute. He earned his Master’s in City and Regional Planning from Clemson University with a specialization in spatial modeling through Geographic Information Systems.
