Valley Sustainable and Equitable Economic Development (SEED) Summit

The Valley Sustainable and Equitable Economic Development (Valley SEED) coalition launched in 2023 with support from the James Irvine Foundation and the Sierra Health Foundation.

Valley SEED strives to increase climate resiliency, strengthen labor standards, and generate good jobs in the Central Valley through the leadership of community-based, environmental justice, and labor organizations that work directly with the region’s most vulnerable populations. The community development work of Valley SEED centers the needs and priorities of residents and workers in small, unincorporated communities, indigenous populations, immigrants, farmworkers, and non-English speakers across the eight county region of the Central Valley.

Member organizations will showcase local projects and strategies that highlight the intersection of workforce development, climate resiliency, and community development. The Valley SEED Summit will demonstrate the strength and innovation that emerges from initiatives led and informed by residents and workers most impacted by climate change and economic transitions. Attendees will include state and national agencies, elected officials, philanthropy, industry, labor, community-based organizations, workers and researchers.
