CER Regional Roadshow: Region 10 – Anchorage, Alaska

Wednesday, June 26 · 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. AKDT

Join the U.S. EPA for an in-person CER Regional Roadshow event in Anchorage, Alaska! This event is FREE!

A light breakfast and lunch will be served.

The CER Regional Roadshow is a part of EPA’s Community, Equity & Resiliency Initiative, a groundbreaking effort to help communities across the nation navigate EPA’s Inflation Reduction Act investments and other new funding opportunities made possible by President Biden’s Investing in America agenda. Through this new initiative, EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation (OAR) and Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights (OEJECR) will facilitate community-driven partnerships and provide a space for communities to learn, connect and cultivate ideas on how to access the historic resources, especially in low-income and disadvantaged communities.

With over $2 billion in available grant funding for environmental and climate justice projects benefiting communities most impacted by climate challenges, this meeting will provide a unique opportunity to learn about available federal grants, receive in-person grant assistance, meet potential grant partners, and meet Technical Assistance providers to support your application efforts.

Highlighted at this networking event is an extraordinary opportunity: an estimated $150 million is available for projects benefiting Tribes in Alaska under a special Target Investment Area (TIA) provision in the Community Change Grant application. This unique TIA provision means you’ll be competing only against others within the same TIA, significantly increasing your chances of success. Take advantage of the chance to secure substantial funding for your transformative projects!

During the CER Regional Roadshow, community leaders and potential grant applicants will:

  • Meet with fellow peers in Alaska to develop new or deeper community-based partnerships and cultivate ideas for appropriate funding opportunities, specifically the Community Change Grants.
  • Meet your Thriving Community Technical Assistance Center (TCTAC) providers for grant assistance and organizational support.
  • Receive hands-on technical assistance for your Community Change Grant application and other funding opportunities.
  • Discussion and activities on how to confront the climate crisis and advance environmental justice in your community.

Eligible registrants will receive reimbursement for a portion of travel costs, based on distance traveled and selected lodging, as well as a participant stipend for attending. Reimbursement and stipend provision is on a first come first serve basis, so please register as soon as possible!

Event Highlights:

  • Community Change Grants: $2 billion in support of comprehensive community and place-based approaches to redressing environmental and climate injustices for communities facing legacy pollution, climate change, and persistent disinvestment. For Alaska Tribes, approximately $150 million is set aside for projects focusing on the clean-up of contaminated lands conveyed through the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA).Applications are received on a rolling basis, but the final submission date is November 21, 2024 .
  • Diesel Emissions Reduction Act Tribal & Territory Grants: $8 million of funding available for federally recognized Tribal governments, intertribal consortia, and Alaska Native villages to reduce diesel emissions from older diesel engines emitting large amounts of Nox and PM2.5, which contribute to serious public health problems, including asthma, lung disease, and various other cardiac and respiratory diseases. Applications are due December 6, 2024.
  • Clean Heavy Duty Vehicles Program: $1 billion in grants to replace non-zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles with zero-emission vehicles and refueling infrastructure. This program provides at least $400 million for projects serving communities located in an area in nonattainment with the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. Applications are due July 25, 2024.
  • Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking (TCGM) Program This program will be available in Fall, 2024 to support several projects that increase capacity building, increase efficiency, and reduce barriers to accessing federal funding and encourage meaningful involvement in decision making that may affect communities. Grant awards will be up to $350K.
