Gary Silversmith
Biography
Gary Silversmith is a respected environmental attorney who frequently speaks at EPA conferences and brownfield educational programs. Gary founded and is the President of P&L Investments, a national brownfields developer based in Washington, D.C.. P&L Investments was the first firm in the country to get permission from EPA to convert a federal Superfund site to a residential use. Gary and P&L Investments are known for their creative redevelopments, ranging from building an attractive single-family community on a former oil refinery in Louisiana to grazing cattle on an active oil field in Santa Barbara County, California—and creating a new product for upscale restaurants, called “Santa Barbara Wagu”. In Ohio, they converted a closed landfill to an attractive public golf course in a public-private partnership with the local government. In addition to his brownfield work, Gary actively helps Wounded Warriors and disabled veterans, and for that, he received the Navy’s highest civic award in a ceremony at the Pentagon (which the Navy also awarded to the actor Tom Cruise).
