Biography

Ed Holder, who joined Mercy Housing California (“MHC”) in 2007, is Vice President of Real Estate Development, where he has led the organization’s statewide affordable housing development platform since 2011. In this role, he oversees one of the largest nonprofit housing pipelines in the country, spanning nearly 50 communities and 4,800 homes across California, from early feasibility through lease-up. Over this period, MHC has completed or rehabilitated more than 7,000 homes and has consistently ranked among the nation’s top nonprofit developers.

Earlier in his career, Ed was Vice President of Development at The Olson Company, where he managed infill residential development throughout Southern California. He led entitlement, acquisition, and redevelopment efforts for hundreds of homes, including transit-oriented and mixed-use projects, expanded the company’s development pipeline and negotiated complex public-private development agreements. Prior to entering real estate development, Ed worked in public finance investment banking at J.P. Morgan Securities, supporting public agencies and nonprofit clients on complex bond financings and capital strategies.

Ed has served on the Board of the Southern California Association of Nonprofit Housing and in addition to his board role at CCLR he currently serves as Vice Chair for the Do Good Daniels Family Foundation. Ed holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he also earned a certificate in Public and Nonprofit Management, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Occidental College.
