CCLR & Communities Awarded EPA Brownfield Grants
On May 25th, the US EPA announced $315 million in funding to support the beneficial reuse of brownfield sites. A total of 262 communities received 267 grant awards in Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup (MARC) Grant funding. EPA awarded more than $47 million to Region 9 & 10 projects. The Center for Creative Land Recycling congratulates all the Region 9 and 10 winners.
From Anchorage, Alaska to the White Mountain Apache Tribe in Arizona, we are proud that 87% of the applications CCLR assisted through review services and technical assistance were successful in receiving grants – a total of over $35 million in funding.
CCLR Awarded Technical Assistance to Brownfield (TAB) Grants
EPA also announced funding for Technical Assistance to Brownfields (TAB) providers to help stakeholders understand brownfields-related subject matter, and guide them through the brownfield assessment, clean-up, and revitalization process. CCLR is thrilled to have been awarded a combined $10 million to expand its scope of services in Regions 9 and 10.
Through this increased funding, CCLR will be able to reach and support more communities to address legacy pollution and see their visions for equitable, resilient and sustainable places come to fruition. CCLR will also deepen our relationships with the organizations we have assisted in our 25 years of operation. We are looking forward to scaling our staff and infrastructure to be able to meet this opportunity and to continue to advance environmental justice and climate adaptation work.
